Timpanogos Singers is a welcoming, auditioned chamber-style vocal ensemble for adults who love making music that is both artistically rewarding and deeply enjoyable to sing.

We meet Tuesday evenings from 6:30–8:30pm at the Timp Arts Center (53 W Main Street, American Fork), beginning August 25th. Our season includes four major concerts each year: our themed concert, Christmas concert, Celtic concert, and a Singer’s Choice concert that highlights the creativity and strengths of the ensemble.

This is a choir built not just around performances, but around the singers themselves—their growth, their connection, and their experience in rehearsal each week. We take on music that is engaging and meaningful, with enough challenge to feel satisfying, and enough support that it always remains joyful and accessible.

As our singers have shared:

  • “The highlight of my week.”
  • “Great director, great music, great people, great fun!”
  • “Music challenging enough to make it interesting, but not so hard it takes the fun out of it.”
  • “It has brought so much joy and meaning back into my life.”
  • “I love the camaraderie of rehearsing and working together to create a beautiful performance.”
  • “Singing brings me joy… and I’ve built good relationships with my section.”

Many come because they’re looking for music. They stay because of something deeper: community, consistency, and the feeling of creating something beautiful together.

Whether you are returning to singing after time away, looking for a meaningful musical outlet in a busy life, or simply wanting to be part of something that lifts your week, Timpanogos Singers offers a place where you can grow musically, connect socially, and experience the joy of making music with others.

Here, the goal is simple: great music, made well, in a way that singers truly love to experience.

Auditions

Come sing with us for a rehearsal first—the best way to understand the ensemble is to experience it. During that first rehearsal, the director will listen for blend and fit within the section sound. After your initial rehearsal, you’ll meet briefly with the director. He’ll ask you to sing a musical phrase and have a short conversation with you about your voice and placement. That’s it.

Most singers find the process very natural and self-selecting—if you feel comfortable matching pitch and blending within a group, you’ll likely feel right at home here. Our goal is simply to place singers where they can contribute their best sound and enjoy the experience fully. Contact M. Ryan Taylor, at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Please make choir a priority; when section members are missing, it slows the progress of the whole choir. Please let the program manager or director know if you have unavoidable conflicts that arise.

Please be on time for warm-ups. Warm-ups give us an opportunity to stretch, learn new vocalises, practice blending and unifying with the rest of the choir.

Emails from Timp Arts Choirs are the main method of communication. Participants must ensure they can receive emails, regularly check their email, and read ALL choir communications promptly. When a reply is necessary, please do so quickly.

The choir may participate in video and/or audio recordings, and in doing so they agree to allow their voice and image to be shared publicly.

Timpanogos Arts Foundation reserves the right to dismiss a member from the choir for disruption or attendance issues, and a refund will not be offered.

Members are expected to volunteer when needed (move risers, help backstage, set up chairs, fundraiser help, etc.), Volunteering not only helps keep dues low, but builds our choir as community.

Concert black attire (long-sleeve dress shirts & slacks for the men, and blouses/skirts or dresses for the women) is the standard for Timpanogos Singers. We trust members to make tasteful decisions regarding styles and lengths.

Members may be asked to purchase a concert-specific t-shirt ($20 or less) once per semester.

Singers need to provide their own “heavy-duty” BLACK binder, and are expected to take good care of their sheet music and only make light markings in pencil. Alternatively, singers may use a tablet for their music. Music should be turned in after each concert.

Member dues help cover the cost of sheet music, instrumentalists, building use, and administrative overhead. Our low dues reflect the grants given us through Timpanogos Arts Foundation and the American Fork PARC grants.

I have read the above and agree to abide by these guidelines.
